About US

Nile Egypt Labs was founded in 2007 by Dr. Ramy Abdou who saw an opportunity to provide business support to healthcare professionals. Over the years, the company has grown to become the second largest provider of laboratory services in Egypt working closely with healthcare professionals to support the needs of patients across Egypt. Nile Egypt Laboratories is an Egyptian company with over 10 years’ experience working with laboratories, physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver better outcomes in patient care. Test results are used by physicians and other healthcare providers in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases and illness in patients. Some reports have estimated that lab results constitute about 70% of a patient’s medical record, while up to 80% of all clinical treatment decisions are based on results from laboratory tests. The company’s test results play a critical role in assessing individual patient needs and identifying the most effective course of action.

    Laboratory Units

    I. Immunology Unit

The Immunology section contributes to the care of patients with allergic diseases and primary immunodeficiency. Clinical liaison with other specialties including Pediatrics, Hematology, Nephrology and Neurology is also an essential component of this service.
The main sections of the laboratory are:
      • Autoimmunity- detects a large number of autoantibodies both organ specific and non-organ specific together with more specialized tissue specific and endocrine autoantibodies.
      • Immunochemistry- employs a range of tests to diagnose and monitor immunological disorders such as myeloma, lymphoma, infection and immunodeficiency. Total and specific IgE are measured for a large range of allergens.
      • Cellular Immunology- provides a complete range of T and B cell markers related to leukemia/ Lymphoma diagnosis as well as for primary and secondary immunodeficiency disorders, including HIV.

    II.Chemistry Unit

Chemistry performs a wide variety of tests using the most current technology. It is defined as the scientific study of matter and the various compounds of the elements as it relates to the human body. Common tests analyzed in the chemistry laboratory are glucose, cholesterol, BUN, creatinine, potassium, liver and heart enzymes, thyroid tests and hormone tests, and PSA.

    III.Hematology Unit

The Haematology section provides a diagnostic service for patients. One of the most commonly performed tests is the Complete Blood Count (CBC). The CBC gives information about the patients' Haemoglobin level, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. It can be used to help diagnose anaemia, leukaemia, infections and many other diseases. Blood cell morphology is also assessed microscopically by registered Biomedical Scientists in the laboratory.

    IV. Molecular Biology Unit

Molecular biology is a field of science that explores and studies the structures and functions of cells on a molecular level. Molecular biologists must be proficient in numerous subjects and sciences before they can effectively conduct research or academic activity in their field. It is presumed that all cell functions, which are incredibly complex and incompletely understood, take place on a molecular level. This means that the sophisticated interconnection and cooperation of biological molecules is what makes life possible, which is an intriguing subject that puzzles molecular biologists and motivates them to discover the secrets of cells. A molecular biologist is preoccupied with exploring, understanding or teaching the concepts behind cellular structure and function on a molecular level.
